Helen Shebani, RMT, treated our retreat guests to massages in our rooftop Mindful Mini-Spa. As a practitioner of 17 years and a member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario she has built her career with passion, honesty and dedication. As a firm believer in self care, she treats her clients to their individual needs and goals with home care stretches and exercises to compliment the treatment. She shares with us her philosophy on the Power of Touch.


For centuries the power of touch and massage has been helping people of all ages manage pain and stress. And today, massage therapy has become an essential part of healthcare treatment plans for many pain conditions.

The power of touch and massage has been an integrative part of many cultures around the world including the Native Americans and shamans in African culture. And the Chinese began using it as long as 5,000 years ago. We’re talking about healing touch, or more specifically, the art of energy medicine.

The power of touch has helped people on many levels. The medical centre reports patients experiencing: decreased pain and fatigue, faster recovery, less anxiety and stress, improved sleep pattern, increased sense of calm, deeper spiritual connection, and improved wound healing.
