A Holistically Uplifting Facial

These days us mindful babes who want to stay (look) young forever (longer) are ditching the botox and making the conscious choice (for both themselves and the planet!) to try cosmetic acupuncture instead, which can be not only more effective in terms of results — but is also going to save you the possible toxic side-effects. We were excited to treat our retreat guests at our Retail Therapy event a chance to try it out for themselves — including getting their face rolled in precious jade (yes, we’re being totally serious).

Want to learn more about cosmetic acupuncture & ways to stay green and clean when it comes to your beauty routine? I reached out to one of our self-care station aestheticians, Kriss from Traditional Today, to share some juicy (collagen-boosting) insights.

Q: What makes cosmetic acupuncture a more 'mindful'/'sustainable' cosmetic treatment vs other more mainstream/conventional beauty sessions?

Cosmetic acupuncture compliments your own beauty and helps to slow the appearance of aging — naturally. Instead of physically injecting a filler, the needles activate your body's own response encouraging collagen production in the dermis layer of the skin. It is also stimulating Qi and blood in the face, helping the complexion while relaxing the facial muscles.

Q: How do you keep your business "green & clean”?

In addition to everything needing to be kept sterile, I choose products that are less harmful to the environment. Packaging plays a part on which products I choose as well. I recycle when I can but also buy items in bulk or bags that I can refill.

Q: What's your favourite skincare ingredient that's kind to the earth?

I love using Argan Oil in my treatments. It helps maintain pH balance of the skin, so I find it is good for all skin types. I sourced out St Francis brand because I do carry their herbal products and like that they come from a family owned company in Ontario, where they still grow and manufacture their products today.

Their products are also formulated with certified organic preservatives, free of GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms), allergen-free, and not tested on animals.
